Looking for ways to revive your healthcare design post pandemic? Let’s take a look at a few trends being used for this year…

Surface Materials

With the rise of COVID-19 in 2020, “antibacterial” was the word we were hearing everywhere, and still are. Moving forward, non-porous surfaces materials that decrease risk are essential to hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Some of these can include Corian, for example, that’s used for table surfaces, counter tops, reclining hospital chairs, and arms on the convertible hospital sleeper sofas.

Themed designs

We are seeing more and more healthcare facilities incorporating design elements that tell a story. Including pops of color and softer materials can help elevate the simplest space and represent the company’s brand.

Cozy Waiting areas

We are starting to see a shift in healthcare waiting areas from sterile and stale to warm and cozy. Bringing a sense of home to the patients and their families can make them feel more relaxed while they wait. “In these important spaces you have to design for the needs of the single visitor, the family unit, the mother and child, and so on. ”Bonner of Kirksey Architecture. Flexible furniture is also important to incorporate into waiting rooms so that staff can easy move furniture to accommodate patients.

Convenient spaces for employees

Healthcare workers have faced some of the toughest challenges that came with the rise of COVID-19. These front line workers sacrifice their lives to save others, and creating a convenient space to unwind and relax is essential. “Flexible shared office spaces can help these physicians achieve their unique visions for their private practices without the upfront investment of outfitting a complete office space,” according to Propmodo.
